today" for a better "tomorrow".Pakistan monument covering a total area of 2.8 hectares (6.9 acres), the design of the monument is rooted in the rich Mughal architecture of the Subcontinent. Pakistan monument petal-shaped structure is derived from the traditional muqarnas of Mughal architecture. The four large petals represent each of the four cultures, Pakhtun, Baloch, Sindhi and Punjab. The three smaller petals represent Minorities, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. The petal-shaped structure emphasises the importance of unity and togetherness of the people of Pakistan. Pakistan monument construction started on 25 May 2004 and was completed on 23 March 2007. The central platform is made in the shape of a five-pointed star which is surrounded by a water body. The structure also hosts a metallic crescent surrounding the star and is inscribed with sayings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and poetry of Allama Iqbal.
